Ajinomoto Oil Mills

The Kumazawa family builds a waterwheel oil mill in Ichinomiya, Owari.

1855
Yoshiwara Oil Refinery

Yoshiwara Shoten was founded by taking over the oil wholesale business of the Kawada family.

1906
Honen Corporation (Hounen Oil)

South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. (Mantetsu) founded

1923
Honen Corporation (Hounen Oil)

The company launched "Soybean White Refined Oil" using a caustic soda refining method. Later, the brand name was changed to "Hounen Oil," and the product is still popular today as a well-established brand in the commercial market.

Yoshiwara Oil Refinery

Golden salad oil (cottonseed oil) launched

1950
Ajinomoto Oil Mills

800g and 1400g cans of home-use tempura oil are released. Sold in supermarkets in the early days, it quickly became popular in households.

1964
Honen Corporation (Hounen Oil)

Established Honen Lever Co., Ltd. As bread became more popular, margarine products became popular in households.

Ajinomoto Oil Mills

"Mariem" (creaming powder) launched

1982
Honen Corporation (Hounen Oil)

Launch of "High Linoleic Acid Salad Oil Series" for home use

Ajinomoto Oil Mills

"Olive Oil Pure Extra Virgin" launched

2002
Ajinomoto Oil Honen Corporation (Hounen Oil)

Honen Corporation and Ajinomoto Oil Mills merged to form a holding company, Honen Ajinomoto Oil Mills.

2003
Honen Ajinomoto Oil Mills Yoshiwara Oil Mills

In 2003, Yoshiwara Oil Mills Co., Ltd. joined the business integration and the holding company name was changed to "J-Oil Mills Co., Ltd."

2004
J-Oil Mills

Each operating subsidiary is absorbed and merged to form "J-Oil Mills, Inc.", fully integrating the business and operating subsidiaries.

2007

Launched the new commercial oil "Chocho Tokutoku", which became a long-selling product as an economical oil that contributed to cost reduction.

2008

The company took over the sales business of commercial processed oils and fats, and confectionery and bread ingredients from its consolidated subsidiary, Honen Lever Co., Ltd.

2011

Entered the powdered oils and fats business and completed construction of a manufacturing facility at Shizuoka Factory (now Shizuoka Office).

2014

Established J-OILMILLS (THAILAND) Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and MHCB Consulting (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Thailand.

June 2017

The Kurashiki Factory was completed in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture as the soybean oil extraction base for Western Japan.

2018

Opened a multi-purpose presentation facility, "Oishisa Design Studio®," in Hatchobori, Chuo Ward, Tokyo.

February 2019

Our wholly owned subsidiaries, Yokohama Pack Co., Ltd., J-Service Co., Ltd., and Golden Service Co., Ltd., merged to establish J-Pack Co., Ltd.

October

We have established a business and capital alliance with Premium Nutrients Pte. Ltd, a holding company based in Singapore.

October 2020

Our consolidated subsidiaries, J-With Co., Ltd. and NIKKA OILS Co., Ltd., are integrated to form J-NIKKA PARTNERS Co., Ltd.

April 2021

The company revamped its corporate philosophy and introduced the communication brand "JOYL" at the same time.

May

Sold all shares of consolidated subsidiary J-Chemical Corporation.

April 2022

Due to a review of market classification by the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the company moved from the First Section to the Prime Market.

October 2023

Established Oil Refining Partners Japan Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Nisshin Oillio Group Co., Ltd. Kurashiki Plant was transferred to the joint venture.
