Environmental Management Philosophy

In order to realize the future we aim for, "Joy for Life®- Bringing joy to the future through food®," the J-Oil Mills Group will work appropriately with diverse stakeholders based on the principle of respect for people, while contributing to reducing the burden on the global environment and creating a sustainable, circular society.

Information Disclosure

We disclose information about our environmental conservation activities, such as reducing our environmental impact and conserving resources and energy, and we make these details public to promote communication with society.

Environmental policy

  • We will understand and evaluate the relationship between the state of the global environment and society and our business activities, and work to resolve issues.
  • We strive to minimize our environmental impact by valuing local resources, conserving resources and energy, and reducing CO2 emissions, and regularly reporting our plans and results.
  • We strive to maximize the efficiency of resource use and procure materials in a way that preserves ecosystems, thereby contributing to the conservation of the natural environment, including biodiversity.
  • We will comply with relevant laws and regulations and respond appropriately to international standards and regulations.
  • We aim to be a business that takes the perspective of local residents, and develop through connections with customers, consumers, and the community.
  • We will provide systematic education and awareness-raising so that this can lead to concrete actions.

Promotion system

In order to discuss policies and various measures related to environmental conservation activities, we have established a Quality, Environment and Safety Meeting under the President, which determines targets for environmental conservation activities, formulates annual plans, discusses countermeasures, reviews progress, etc. In addition, the Environmental Subcommittee under the Sustainability Committee's Sustainable Procurement and Environment Subcommittee promotes efforts on climate change and environmental issues linked to our sustainability policies and SDGs problem-solving, and disseminates these efforts to the public.

Environmental Audit

We check the status of environmental conservation activities based on the Environmental Conservation Regulations. In addition, all production plants operate environmental management systems based on ISO14001, and conduct environmental audits to ensure their proper operation and sophistication. Each production plant conducts an environmental assessment by investigating and evaluating in advance whether there is any impact on the environment, and implements measures if necessary based on the evaluation results. Based on these environmental audits, we are promoting continuous improvement of our environmental conservation activities.

Management Certification

All of J-Oil Mills' production sites have acquired ISO 14001 (environmental management system) certification. In addition to internal audits, we undergo annual inspections by external auditing organizations to ensure continuous improvement.

education

J-Oil Mills believes it is important for each employee to raise their awareness of environmental issues and take a proactive approach in their daily work, so it continues to hold "Environmental Seminars" as a place for employees to educate and raise their environmental awareness. From fiscal 2018, the target audience was expanded to include the head office as well as the production and research and development departments. In addition, follow-up is also conducted after the seminar, such as by having each business location propose on-site improvement activities.
