Social Contribution Activities
overview
We work together in various ways to build connections with people all over the country through our products and services, including those in the communities where our factories are located, so that we can grow together.
We will continue to contribute broadly to society in order to realize our goal of the future, "Joy for Life®- Bringing joy to the future through food®."

Contribution to the community
Factory Initiatives
Our group has production bases all over the country, and we value our relationships with the people in each community. Each production base has been working to improve its business activities from various angles by listening to the opinions and requests of the local people through daily interactions with the local people. Each production base, including the Shizuoka Office, Yokohama Plant, and Kobe Plant, has been engaged in cleanup activities for some time with the objectives of "contributing to the local community and environment," "beautifying the surrounding area," "raising employees' environmental awareness," and "strengthening labor-management cooperation."
In response to the large-scale water outage that occurred in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka Prefecture in October 2022 due to the effects of Typhoon Hagibis, our Shizuoka office distributed drinking water and water for daily use to local residents and facilities. We will continue to engage in dialogue with local residents to work on solving issues in each region and aim to further coexist with local communities by contributing to them even in times of disaster.Shizuoka Office: Cleaning up Miho-Masaki Beach Water supply at Shizuoka Office Support for the Kobe Olive Festival
In September 2024, the Kobe Olive Festival was held at the Kusunoki Public Hall in the grounds of Minatogawa Shrine in Kobe, allowing local residents to learn about and enjoy the connection between Kobe and olives. Our company participated as a sponsor and gave a wide-ranging lecture titled "All About Olives," in which we introduced olive producing areas and the characteristics of olive varieties, our company's efforts to ensure quality, and olive oil recipes.
Parent-child factory tour "We are the Sanpai Detectives"
In August 2023, at the request of the Shizuoka Prefecture Industrial Waste Association, we held a factory tour called "We are Sanpai Detectives" at our Shizuoka office, where parents and children could think about industrial waste, which is closely related to our daily lives, by visiting industrial waste generating factories and industrial waste treatment facilities. During the tour, we also explained our efforts to reduce industrial waste and various environmentally friendly products.
Support for creating a place for children
In August 2020, our group, in collaboration with Iceline Co., Ltd., began selling "Harenokuni Soybean White-Stretched Oil," a private brand (PB) product for commercial-use oils and fats for the company.
For each can of this product sold, Iceline Co., Ltd., our company, and the restaurant that purchased it will each donate the same amount, and the donation will be made to Okayama City's "Creating a Place for Children" project*1. As a result of our activities, the circle of support is steadily expanding, with the number of participating restaurants now reaching approximately 200. To date, we have donated over 3 million yen, and will continue to provide support in the future.*1 Initiatives to increase the number of "places" where children and families in difficulty can be identified and connected to the necessary support, such as through children's cafeterias and learning support, and where they can connect with local adults and society.

Food education
We utilize our extensive knowledge and experience regarding fats and oils to carry out food education activities.
Parent-child event held in collaboration with "Kids' Orange Page"
In March 2024, we partnered with "Kodomo Orange Page" to hold "J-Oil Mills Exciting Parent-Child Cooking Lesson: Learn about the Power of Oil, Make It, and Eat It" at the hands-on studio Coto Lab Asagaya. A total of 15 parent-child pairs participated in this event, learning about the role of edible oil and the differences between types in a quiz format. Afterwards, parent-child pairs used our edible oil to try cooking snacks and fried foods. Participants commented, "My child ate it all up in no time, even though I put in a lot of vegetables," and "I was afraid of frying at home, so I was glad that I could experience it with my child using oil that doesn't splash."
Parents and children having a cooking experience Tasting the cooked food "Children's Japanese Food Session" Booth Exhibit
In July 2024, we exhibited a booth at the summer vacation food education experience event "Children's Japanese Food Session". This event was co-hosted by the Japanese Food Culture National Conference and the Hattori Gakuen Hattori Nutrition College, with the aim of providing children with an opportunity to experience "Japanese food" and increase their interest. At our booth, under the theme of "Learn and enjoy vegetable oil!", we exhibited panels on the types of vegetable oil, its manufacturing process, and the history of vegetable oil. In addition, to make vegetable oil more familiar to visitors, we showed videos of the manufacturing process of soybean oil and rapeseed oil, and displayed actual samples of each manufacturing process, clearly introducing the process from product to product. As an experience program, we held an "oil rice ball" making event, where visitors could experience how adding vegetable oil can make rice balls taste better for longer and experience the flavor of each type of vegetable oil.
"Oil rice ball" making experience Panel display "Learning Festival 2023 Summer" on-site lessons for elementary school students
In August 2023, we exhibited at the Learning Festival 2023 Summer, an outreach class for elementary school students organized by the Mainichi Shimbun Co., Ltd. and the Mainichi Elementary School Newspaper. Under the theme of "Become an Olive Doctor," we held a class on oil and an olive oil tasting. On the day of the event, approximately 2,000 elementary school students and their parents visited the event, and our booth was very popular. As a company involved in food, we will continue to carry out various initiatives, including food education activities.

Environmental Conservation
Donations to activities to protect the ocean and river environments
We implemented the "JOYL Green Project - Joy for the Future" project, in which we donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of our convenient and eco-friendly paper-packaged edible oil "Smart Green Pack®" series products, and following on from last year, we made a donation to JEAN, a general incorporated association working to conserve the ocean and river environments, including reducing marine plastic. This project donates approximately 3 yen for each product in the "Smart Green Pack®" series, and the total donation of 997,272 yen will be used for activities to reduce marine plastic.
